The Guild is an affiliate of the Symphony Society with membership open to all who are interested in working to promote and support the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. The Guild meets 5 times per year and sponsors two events annually to raise money that supports the Orchestra. Our Christmas Tour on the first weekend in December is one of Salisbury’s holiday season kickoff events. Our spring event focuses on gardens or gardening and is timed based on its focus that year. Both events are anticipated by the community and are a source of camaraderie and fun. I welcome your interest in the Guild.

The mission of the Guild is to promote and support the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Society and its music education opportunities. The mission is carried out through concert attendance, financial gifts, fund-raising events, supporting education programs and promoting the symphony in the community.
The Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Guild was created in 1977 at the home of Blanche Robertson with founding President Mary Messinger. Since that time, this versatile group of men and women continuously promotes and supports the symphony.
The Guild plans and hosts two signature events each year to raise funds for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. This includes the Christmas Homes Tour and the Festival of Spring Gardens. The Guild contributed $24,000 in 2006/7 and $20,000 in 2007/8 through the work of 200 Guild members and additional community volunteers including area musicians and artists, the generosity and hospitality of individuals and families who open their homes and gardens for Guild events, and the financial support received for event sponsorship. In addition the Guild presented special gifts in 2008 including $5,000 to support youth music education programs and $10,000 to endow a chair in the honor of Dr. Jean Owen in recognition for her significant contributions to the Salisbury Symphony Society and the Guild.
Dues are $35.00 annually to be paid by October 31.
Individuals who are interested in the Guild and membership may contact Membership Chairperson Joan Richard, 1233 Maxwell Street, Salisbury, NC 28144; phone 704.636.6607; email jrichard@salisbury.net.
