Salisbury Symphony . . . In the News

Salisbury Symphony Invites Audience Participation!

5/10/2010

The Salisbury Symphony’s final concert of the 2009-2010 season is perfect for  everyone who loves a mystery!  “Solving Mysteries” will be presented in Keppel Auditorium on the Catawba College campus on Saturday, May 8th, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

If you’re old enough to remember “Name That Tune,” you’ll be right at home.  Maestro David Hagy has brushed off music that we have all heard for many, many years, but maybe don’t know its real name or who the composer is.  For instance, most everyone will recognize the theme of the Long Ranger television show.  But, how many know what the real name is, who wrote it, and for what occasion?  This Pops Concert will be a challenge for those who love challenges, and, for those who just want to relax and enjoy the music, they will be amply rewarded!

Our special “guest” for this concert is the All-County Fifth Grade Honors Chorus, always a concert favorite.  They will sing two songs, one from the recent motion picture, The Princess and the Frog.

The concert is made possible, in part, by funding from the North Carolina Arts Council and Recovery.gov.  Lois Pruehsner is sponsoring the concert in memory of her husband Bob who always loved a good puzzle.   And, for everyone, there will be fortune cookies to enjoy afterwards.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors (60 years and older), $6 for students (ages 9-18), and $4 for children.  Livingstone and Catawba College students are admitted free with student ID.  Tickets are available at ticket outlets at Belk (Salisbury Mall), A Step In Time, Rowan Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Sidewalk Deli in Salisbury; Green Goat Gallery in Spencer; and Crescent Pharmacy in Rockwell.
